Last time we visited Munich, we were looking for a hotel to spend a few nights in. As my family lives outside of Munich, myself and my boyfriend wanted to stay in town, have a night out, enjoy local cuisine and do not have to rush home or wake my parents up. As you will find out with time, I am not a big fan of boring hotels or international franchises that have not got a personality. I like inspiring hotels, hotels that get you excited! So as I was doing my research, I found this hipster looking hotel in central Munich that opened its doors a few months ago and I booked it before my boyfriend even knew about it (guilty)! At first we planned to stay there for one night only in case it was still having some issues from a recent opening but we then booked another night as the hotel was simply too charming to leave. What’s so cool about this place? It’s a family run business that brings lean luxury philosophy to the hotel industry. They are, just like us, passionate travellers who could never understand why luxury hotels have to be so complicated and so expensive. That’s how Ruby was born. They wanted their hotel rooms to be high on comfort, but low on clutter. As they say, “they are not only hoteliers but also architects and software engineers” & you can feel that as soon as you step inside. You will not find a restaurant here or a room service, if that’s what you are after when looking for a hotel – you might want to skip Ruby… or change your habits because Ruby is definitely a hit & it’s located in the heart of the city where you can get an even better bite to eat than most other hotels have to offer. However, Ruby invested in their 24/7 bar which, believe me, is busy & lively at all times. It was nice to see how city travellers, suited business people and young fashionistas came together for a drink. We did have a few drinks here too. Even though the place looks upper class & incredibly stylish, you somehow feel relaxed and laid-back. We stayed in a Cosy Room which was simple but had all necessities you would ever need for a short trip. Our room was equipped with oversized bed, TV that we barely even turned on, docking station, in-room tablet that worked wonders when we wanted to check Google Maps, open glass rain shower and my most favourite thing – Marshall amps. I used it all the time that we spent in the room and my boyfriend kept telling me to turn the volume down.If you opt-in for breakfast, Ruby serves organic breakfast with a variety of meats, boiled eggs, yogurts & a range of toppings but the most important thing – everything is sources locally! It might not be the biggest breakfast buffet you’ve seen but it does the job and it definitely left us feeling healthy & fit for the rest of the day. Would I go back again? Definitely and I would truly recommend you check it out too! If you would like to find out more about my travels, please don’t hesitate to follow me on Instagram, Twitter & Facebook !
