Radisson Blu Manchester Airport | Manchester, England

Am I the only one always worrying that British public transport will screw me over so I prefer travelling to an airport the night before and staying in a hotel on-site? As we live in Newcastle and our flight destinations are quite limited at the local airport, we normally travel abroad from Manchester. I will be truly fair here and say that we tried and tested a few hotels around the Manchester Airport, as everyone would, looking for the best hotel value for our money but nothing was as good as our favourite Radisson Blu Manchester Airport hotel that is actually located on the grounds of the Manchester Airport and has got some breathtaking views over the runway! As with all Radisson Blu hotels, this one does not disappoint too. The airport hotel has got its traditional sophisticated looks with modern rooms, great facilities and services but the star of the show is actually the location and the views that the hotel is able to open up to their visitors! What’s better the night before your flight than laying on a bed and watching other airplanes depart?Let’s have a sneak peek inside the hotel & what I love about it the most!

RoomsAll rooms at Radisson Blu are equipped with standard necessities, whether you are just stopping over for your early flight next morning or came here for a business trip. You can upgrade from Standard to Superior, Business Class Rooms or Junior suites if you wish, however, a Standard room is good enough for a short stop! It’s actually my personal preference as the Radisson Blu is an upscale hotel to start with and I know that a lot of us, travellers, don’t want to spend too much money on a hotel that we spend only a few hours in.

Remember, if you wish to have stunning airport views from your room, you will have to upgrade to a Superior room as Standard rooms are facing other way around or have poor visibility over the runway. During our stays with Radisson we have tried and tested both Standard & Superior rooms so I can tell you this – if you want to have a lovely view, it’s worth it. If you are not that bothered about the view through your window, go for a Standard room and you can still see flights coming/going at their restaurant. Now if you go Business, you get to stay on one of the top levels of the hotel. Classy! Each room has even better views of the airport (that good that I was wide awake during our last stay plane spotting) but the biggest secret of this type of room is that you get access to the Business Class Lounge on level 9 that offers the best views of the runway as well as traditional breakfast with refreshments, separate from the regular breakfast area in the Collage restaurant downstairs! #ALLBUSINESSEVERYTHINGCollage RestaurantThe hotel has got a beautiful restaurant with spectacular airport views so I usually drag my boyfriend there for some food just so I could see planes departing and arriving. I love sitting & guessing where planes are going to or coming back from and it’s a perfect place for that! The food at the restaurant was delicious every time we went there and we use the Radisson Blu on a regular basis. I love that they kept it simple and you will find traditional comfort dishes on the menu, such as Fish & Chips, burgers, grilled meats and a variety of seafood. Simple but delicious!Upon our last visit we had dinner in our room as the train didn’t arrive to the airport until 21:30 and we were too knackered to dress up! It is great because you can order hot food from the restaurant until 22pm and we even got drinks that were not on the menu delivered to our room. As we were celebrating our 3 year anniversary, restaurant staff were lovely and brought us complimentary prosecco that I ended up sipping while my partner decided to have an early night in!

Little M BarIf you are not interested into eating inside the hotel or you are simply not that hungry, you can pop to the Little M bar that has got cosy interior and offers plenty of drinks and nibbles to go with it. Our favourite option there is a pizza as you can share it while having a beverage. It’s a great place to be if you, like us, wish to watch football on the TV as they have a canny few of them!

Fitness Gym & Pool

Another thing I truly love about this hotel is its on-site fitness gym and pool. It is a typical hotel gym with main equipment available and I always feel better sitting on a plane for a few hours after doing an hour of cardio! As we all know sitting for long periods of time is no good for your body so I always try to add some extra movement before the flight, therefore, the gym downstairs is just perfect for me!

I don’t normally tend to use the pool while I’m there as we always travel quite late the night before our flight, straight from our office desks in Newcastle. However, it feels good knowing that it is there if you need it. As well as The Beauty Lounge if you ever have a last minute panic attack that you are not so holiday ready! The beauty lounge offers body treatments, nail services, waxing and tanning. Ladies’ heaven & one less thing to worry about! There’s one mistake to avoid when you stay at the Radisson Blu! Despite the fact that the hotel is located on-site of the airport with direct links to Terminals 1 and 2, it will take a little longer to walk to the Terminal 3. Plan this in advance and leave plenty of time to get there and go through security if your flight departs from Terminal 3! We made this mistake and ended up running to the gate exactly when the gate was closing… we got on the plane on time but it was no fun and I shed a few tears on the way… So don’t do it!Processed with VSCO with hb2 presetProcessed with VSCO with hb2 presetIf you would like to find out more about my travels, please don’t hesitate to follow me on Instagram, Twitter & Facebook !
